When we found out my son and his wife were expecting we were so excited! And of course, since I am from Lancaster County, she had to have a quilt. I dusted off my sewing machine and tried to remember how to quilt. It’s like riding a bike, it comes back to you.

A few ripped seams later, she had a quilt. I was going to finish it but I thought it should be personalized. Her mom and dad did not want to pick and announce her name until they met her. I also needed to pick a grandma name, serious business. I chose Omi, because my maternal Grandma was Naomi and everyone called her Omi. She was the perfect person to channel as I began my Grandma journey.

We waited patiently for her arrival, and she was named June Christy. At that time I could embroider and finish her quilt. It was a great joy to do this project even with the seam ripping.
