Friends are the people who make you smile brighter, laugh louder, and live better.

One fine day this summer I was blessed with an invitation for a day on the Sassafras river. My neighbor and friend Linda Demora invited myself and another neighbor friend Denise Glick to her families cottage at the river. And what a great day it was.

When we arrived it was bathing suits, snacks and out to kayak. You know you have great friends when your kayak trip leads you to a spot to beach and collect driftwood. When we had as much as we could transport back in our kayaks, we headed back to the cottage.
We had a delightful lunch on the screened in porch watching the water lap, just 20 ft away. The cottage is truly On the water.
Lindas’ neighbor kindly said we could borrow a paddle board and Linda and I decided to give it a try. All I can say is third times a charm. It is as challenging as it looks. But with a lot of laughing, I stood and paddled and brought myself to shore without a third dip so we will call it a minor success. Linda did great and spent a little more time paddling around.
Then a little craft time on the porch. Denise has a new loom so we put on her warp threads and got her started weaving. She’s a natural and I believe will become slightly addicted.

As a great end of the day Lindas’ gracious neighbor treated us with a sunset cruise on his pontoon boat. What a beautiful and peaceful excursion.

All in all, it was a beautiful day spent with wonderful friends and we even made a new friend. Days like this are good for the soul.
